Horsell/Woking Blogmeet

by NotBob @ Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009 - 00:41:08

Yes, I am thinking of showing you around this hell-hole town and inviting you all to a very, very nice hostelry on the outskirts.

Comfortable shoes would be advisable as I would like to show you the site which gave H.G. Wells the inspiration to destroy the place (and I don't blame him!)

If it can be arranged, I will try to fit in a tour of the oldest mosque in England as well for a bit of cultural diversity.

Then it will be a quick trip back to my second home for drinks and a leisurely meal if you so wish. Nothing formally arranged, just if you want food it will be available.

There are a few hotels in Woking, the Holiday Inn being the largest and, I would suggest, cheapest, though there may be others around the area that are more desirable.

"So, when is this planned for?" I hear you ask.

Good question. I'm thinking about the tail-end of March next year, say 27/28th?

And guess why I chose that weekend... *whistles innocently, not mentioning the "B" word*

*ahem*

hahahahaha... *winks* good one...now where is the nearest airport and do you know who flies there? x

Nearest airport would be London Heathrow with a direct rail link to Woking.

Air Canada flies non-stop from Ottawa to Heathrow, if that helps.

x

Thanks hun. I would fly from Toronto (Pearson International) which is only 45 minutes from Oshawa (my home). Air Canada flies from there as well. xxx

Sounds interesting. Will mark the dates but can't say yes or no yet, depends if I can take a couple of days of leave.

Thanks for coming up with the idea, though!!

Us Wokinians wouldn't stoop so low as to have an Ibis. ;)

It's just a walk over Horsell Common followed by drinkies at my local. But If you want to see part of Woking's literary history and a good laugh, you're more than welcome to come along.
