Blogmeet Next May - June - anyone BCUK invited - suggestions

by jaketaylor @ Wednesday, Oct. 07, 2009 - 10:48:20

I've been blogging here for the last 4 years and even though I communicate via a million different ways with many bloggers here, we have never met. So I've created a post here to see if anyone's interested an meeting up with anyone from BCUK in England next year. Nothing special just a bunch of like minded individuals having a meal and a drink and some decent conversation... maybe making a weekend of it.

who's up for it?

where we going to meet?

when?

how?

Look forward to your replies ...

:)

London - This Weekend :)

by LondonNici @ Wednesday, Sep. 16, 2009 - 13:35:35

Ok, after much procrastinating and a friendly text prompt this morning .....

Now, as mentioned before KB and I are unable to show up until the evening on the 19th (due to me having to go look at little cottages with my mother - shoot me now !)

We plan on being at The Crown & Two Chairmen on Dean Street in Soho from 6.30pm onwards.  Nearest tube is Tottenham Court Road.  I figure we can stay there until about 9ish and then we can take a mini vote on next port of call (I promise not to drag anyone into seedy lesbian clubs - that treat was for Row and TKK).

Private message me if you are coming and I will give you my mobile number :)

Lincoln Christmas Market

by kendersrule @ Wednesday, Sep. 02, 2009 - 16:30:53

It's on from the 3rd to the 6th of December this year...
Anyone wanna come?
Here's the website...
Er?
It is worth it for the food alone tbh, but the trinket stalls can be interesting, I suspect everyone could do with their own hand-made leather quaffy thing...
And the Catherdral does look pretty all lit up...

Everyone is welcome but don't expect me to pick people up from anywhere or anything, unless of course I get a car by then... Directions and recommendations can be provided, but really google does it's job perfectly ;)

Kenderland also has zero room for lodgers, so googling 'uphill, lincoln' combined with hotel b&b etc should sort you reet...
Definitely the uphill bit though, cannot stress that enough!

Be aware weather is traditionally in the 'rain' category for the event, but there are large portions of the market under cover, along with late opening hours for the most interesting shops in the area.
I would advised wind proof clothing above all else though as that's one thing you can count on in Lincolnshire.
Flat shoes, not just for The Hill, but also the cobbles...

Train users: the train station is at the bottom of the hill. Bare this in mind.
Coach/Bus users: the bus station is at the bottom of the hill, however there is a bus service for the event.
Drivers: er, plenty of parking around, there's actually a park and ride facility for the event, in an easy to find/get to location, but traffic is indeed a leetle busy.

The website has pretty good info, and I'm waffling.

Any questions, just comment :)

Right, this London weekend thing

by soyunperdedor @ Tuesday, Sep. 01, 2009 - 19:47:25

19th / 20th, yes? Vicky and I are planning a weekend in London before uni starts again and think it would make an awful lot of sense to do it that weekend.

SO.

Who is organising the ruddy thing?
Which area should we book a hotel? Centrally?
Can we get a show of hands for who is going, please? Everyone seems to be umming and ahhing, COMMIT people!
Can we both walk around singing Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit over and over again, and live? We shall be COCK-ER-NEEEYS for the day, y'see, to blend in.

Weeellllll?

Horsell/Woking Blogmeet

by NotBob @ Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009 - 00:41:08

Yes, I am thinking of showing you around this hell-hole town and inviting you all to a very, very nice hostelry on the outskirts.

Comfortable shoes would be advisable as I would like to show you the site which gave H.G. Wells the inspiration to destroy the place (and I don't blame him!)

If it can be arranged, I will try to fit in a tour of the oldest mosque in England as well for a bit of cultural diversity.

Then it will be a quick trip back to my second home for drinks and a leisurely meal if you so wish. Nothing formally arranged, just if you want food it will be available.

There are a few hotels in Woking, the Holiday Inn being the largest and, I would suggest, cheapest, though there may be others around the area that are more desirable.

"So, when is this planned for?" I hear you ask.

Good question. I'm thinking about the tail-end of March next year, say 27/28th?

London 19th/20th September (Part 2)

by LondonNici @ Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009 - 15:56:33

Hi All,

As previously mentioned HERE ..... anyone still up for it?

Not trying to tread on Jennie's toes but it is the only weekend between now and Armagedden that KB and I can do.

An idea...

by Jenniebaby @ Friday, Aug. 14, 2009 - 22:49:07

... has been had that there should perhaps be small London-based blog meet...?

Am wondering whether anyone might be interested in meeting up for small drinkies and cake some time between when-I-get-back-from-holiday-at-the-beginning-of-September and Christmas...

Can recommend nice East London based pub (v convenient for people who are me) or possibly somewhere a bit more central if better.

Not sure whether this is good idea.

What do you think?

anxious

by misspoison @ Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009 - 20:43:32

I feel anxious and I'm not sure why.

I'm feeling like I'm losing my grip slightly.

I should be happy.

I've got everything that should make me happy.

Whats wrong with me.
